Weapons of Mass Destruction affect all of us. The financial cost alone of the research, development and testing of WMD is enormous. That money could be used for global social programmes in areas such as health and education.
Two facts that highlight these costs are:
- The US is estimated to have spent around $4 trillion on nuclear weapons from 1940-1995 – and that does not include the cost of other WMD.
- One in three children under 5 years old suffers from malnutrition.
Where do you think that money would be best used?
Nowadays, all of us live with the fear that WMD may be used.
